BrokerTeam Insurance is a brokerage made up of insurance professionals dedicated to their chosen industry. We provide ongoing training to ensure that our brokers and staff are up to date on the latest trends and coverages, so that our clients are properly protected. We encourage ongoing and continued education for professional and personal development.
BT Academy
Mainly focused on brokers new to our brokerage, BT Academy is also available for brokers who have been with us for a while as a refresher course. Scheduled in the last week of each month, the program is led by various BrokerTeam Insurance leaders and takes brokers through:
- Compliance & ethics
- Systems and procedures
- Personal & commercial insurance
On the fourth day, there’s an open-book exam of about 30 questions – and usually donuts! Our BT Academy is designed to set our brokers up for success.
Ongoing in-Person & Remote Training
BrokerTeam Insurance has frequent training sessions and webinars to keep our brokers are up to date on everything insurance. We invite our insurance carriers to host webinars on their specific products and appetites, especially for commercial insurance. BrokerTeam Insurance leaders also provide in-house sessions to ensure all our brokers are following our guidelines and tips. The pursuit of knowledge is ongoing!
Carrier Underwriters
Because of our outstanding relationships with our carriers, you’ll often see their underwriters at the BrokerTeam Insurance head office in Richmond Hill. Not only do interactions build an even stronger relationships, but the in-person accessibility of carrier underwriters allows our brokers to go through unique cases with insurance companies. This helps them gain invaluable insights as well as help them write more business.
Level II Training
BrokerTeam encourages our people to continuously increase their knowledge in the business, not just as insurance brokers. Every couple of years, we give the opportunity for potential leaders to acquire their level II licensing. We dedicate a week of training and mentoring to thoroughly understand – not just memorize – the course materials. Then we will set up a day for all our level II candidates to take the final exam together.
